Raising the Roof: Restoring Eden's Sanctuary & Song

Eden Ambassadors

Like living stones, [you] are being built into a spiritual house . . .

(1 Peter 2:5 NIV)

This was the theme of our Eastertide 2020 Memorial Campaign, in which we honored the many that have formed the foundations of our faith lived out in this place. We are mindful of the many—named or unnamed, known or unknown—whose service to Eden has kept this spiritual house alive.

With this page, we begin sharing stories about the impact of Eden's members on this faith community as well as the world outside our "walls." As a sort of namesake for these ambassadors, we begin with this comprehensive biography of Ambassador Adolph "Spike" Dubs compiled by a member of the Eden extended family in 2020. The Ambassador was murdered while serving in Afghanistan in 1979. He is remembered here as a man shaped by Eden, deeply committed to a life of faith lived out in peace-making.

We'll continue to collect stories of past and present "ambassadors" whose lives represent the goodwill at the heart of Eden. Do you have stories to share? No story is too big or small. You may send your stories to info@edenuccchicago.org.
